Plastic pipe production and application in our country has a history of nearly 40 years. However, significant development occurred only in the past 10 years. According to relevant statistics, the annual output of plastic pipes and fittings in China has increased from 200,000 tons to 600,000 tons over the past 10 years, with an average annual growth rate of approximately 20%. 
According to relevant information, the application fields of plastic pipes can be roughly divided into 8 aspects: indoor water supply pipes, building water supply pipes, building drainage pipes, buried drainage pipes, gas pipelines, electrical conduit pipes, agricultural pipes, and industrial pipes, etc. Among them, the development of building water supply and drainage pipes is rapid, followed by the development of industrial and agricultural pipes which is also relatively good. However, the development of buried drainage pipes and gas pipelines lags far behind that of foreign countries. 
However, the development of plastic valves and other pipe fittings in our country lags behind that of pipe materials. According to the theories of relevant experts, the reasonable ratio of building pipe materials and fittings should be 8:1. However, according to the statistics in 1998, the production capacity ratio of plastic pipe materials and fittings for buildings in our country was approximately 20:1. In recent years, the production capacity of plastic pipe fittings has slightly increased, but it is still very unbalanced. The producers of plastic pipe fittings are mostly small enterprises, and there are very few large and medium-sized enterprises.
In addition, at present, there is no relatively unified and complete technical and quality standards for plastic pipe fittings in our country. Due to this reason, up to now, the domestic plastic pipe fittings products, both in variety and quality, are far from satisfactory. Especially plastic valves, because the production difficulty is relatively high, it is even more unable to meet the needs of many fields.
The demand for plastic valve products in the market mainly comes from two aspects: one is used in conjunction with plastic pipe materials; the other is that plastic valves have good corrosion resistance, drug resistance, fatigue resistance, insulation properties, and also have the advantages of light weight and high processing efficiency. In foreign countries, plastic valves have been widely used in fields such as chemical industry, medicine, food processing, indoor and outdoor water supply and drainage, mechanical and electrical products, agriculture, etc. It can be expected that plastic valve products with better quality, performance and price have huge market potential in China, and even after China joins the WTO, they are good products to participate in international market competition.
